Position: Environmental researcher/advisor
Organization: LEAF (Leaders in Environmentally Accountable Foodservice)
anywhere in Canada

Leaders in Environmentally Accountable Foodservice is currently seeking an environmental professional/group to guide updates and improvements on current audit criteria. The purpose of the update is to maintain the scientific integrity of the program and to ensure facilities are evaluated on current, evidence-based criteria.

LEAF is the only Canadian nation-wide non-profit foodservice certification program. Established in 2009, LEAF has worked with over 100 foodservice facilities of all sizes and scopes in an effort to reduce the environmental impact of the industry.

Type of position: Temporary, Contract

Scope of project and outcome:

  • Review current audit criteria used by the organization to evaluate foodservice operations
  • Research recent technological and industry developments
  • Research current practices and improvements in foodservice operations
  • Provide recommendations to Board of Directors for updates and changes to audit criteria to reflect changes in the industry and current research
  • Provide recommendations to Board of Director for changes to certification requirements based

Project deadline: Project to commence immediately following candidate selection. Report and recommendations to be completed and delivered to LEAF by July 31, 2017.


  • Degree in Environmental Sciences or similar preferred
  • Extensive experience in environmental field
  • Experience conducting extensive environmental audits
  • Knowledge of foodservice operators and equipment
  • Experience developing audits an asset

BUDGET: compensation based on experience and negotiated time frame.
